Designed by DRINKSOLOGY, Nuala is a new Modern British, Irish-influenced and well-travelled restaurant in Shoreditch London. The team behind it led by Niall Davidson comes with a significant range of experience, having worked at a catalogue of London’s, and in some cases the world’s most well-known restaurants. Work has included branding, illustaion and all interior design.
A bit more detail. The latest addition to the trendy Shoreditch dining scene comes in the form of this interesting new eatery and bar. We designed it for a team composed of former Chiltern Firehouse, Fat Duck and Hawksmoor personnel. Serving up a fascinating menu, with dishes including bone marrow doughnuts, flamed clams and three different types of potato side dish.
The brief for the ground floor restaurant was to design a space with distinct character and a functional layout. We are known for designing world class bars but our experience through a range of collaborations including with Danny Meyers ‘GreenRiver’ restaurant and bar in Chicago provides the platform of knowledge we needed to succeed in this application.
Working closely with the architects floorpan we created the interior design with all the associated drawing and tender packages.
The restaurant and bar opened in November 2017. Of course a few decisions are always made along the way that slightly change designs but Nuala remained almost completed true to the design package supplied, a testiment to the power of detailed renders and drawings.
Downstairs of the main dining is Nuala Bar, a mix between shebeen and cosy Irish pub where head bartender Lauren Taylor has concocted a drinks menu of stunning whiskeys, cocktails and punches, not to mention the best Guinness in London. The design brief was to encompass the best of traditional Irish pub with the best of a 1980’s working mans bar - formica and rich wood it is then!
The bar opened in November 2017. Below are some detailed photographs that perfectly highlight the accuracy of the DRINKSOLOGY design renders .
