A new Indian Experience
Breaking ground in 2027, this new vision for an existing distillery is set to become a definitive landmark for Indian spirits. This ambitious brand home carries the torch for the next generation of Indian single malts and traditional Mahua spirits. We are crafting the complete vision for this brand home - leading the architectural, interior, and experiential design.
Architecture
Our architectural design coexists with the tropical landscape, utilising native materials that will weather and patina over time. As guests navigate the estate, the circular geometry artfully dictates the experience, intentionally opening and closing vistas.
Interior Design
Fusing the cultures of India with global luxury, three very unique circular pods house statement centerpieces: a radiant chandelier, a towering backbar, and a majestic feather-inspired structure, anchoring the visitor’s journey through design.
Consumer Experience
Architecture, interiors, and landscape converge in a seamless journey, pairing sensory fractional distillation tastings with a modern re-imagining of luxury cask draws. The result is a redefined experience that celebrates the best Indian through a global lens.
Architecture and gardens
Our design intervention started with the replacement of an obsolete 5,000-ton grain silo, utilising its massive concrete footprint as the foundation of the first of three interconnected circular pavilions. This trio of structures forms a cohesive complex that houses the entirety of the guest journey and sensory experience. By opting for circular geometry, the architecture mirrors the organic flow of the surrounding environment. Constructed from native materials, the buildings are designed to weather naturally, blending seamlessly into the lush tropical landscape. This holistic approach turns a formerly industrial site into a sophisticated brand home, allowing the distillery’s storied liquid history to be shared in a world-class setting.
Retail and reception
The first circular pod serves as a sophisticated introduction, housing the reception and retail experience. The design radiates from a central axis, anchored by a magnificent ornate circular chandelier that dictates the room’s symmetry. Enriched with native materials and bespoke local artwork, the space establishes an immediate tactile connection to its heritage, blending high-end luxury with deep regional resonance.
Cocktail bar.
The distillery cocktail bar celebrates verticality, with a design that radiates from a dramatic suspended circular backbar. This soaring space heroises the distillery’s vast history, showcasing a monumental collection of vintage stocks that requires a library ladder to reach the rarest expressions. Throughout, luxury soft furnishings and a rich material palette serve as a vibrant, sophisticated celebration of Indian culture.
Stillhouse and garden views.
The design of the stillhouse serves as a transition between the natural world and industrial heart of the distillery. Guests first enter an artistically embellished lobby, mirroring the landscape they just traversed. From there, they ascend a grand staircase beneath celestial lighting, a transition that builds anticipation before they emerge into the heart of the operation: a stillhouse of massive scale and formidable production potential. The experience culminates as guests exit onto a balcony where the architecture offers a breathtaking panoramic perspective, framing views of the surrounding gardens and hills. This acts as a deliberate connection of landscapes, where the raw, functional power of the distillery meets the quiet, timeless beauty of nature.
Whisky & Mahura Sensorium.
The largest and tallest of the three pods serves as the distillery’s experiential hub, housing a deconstructed “fractional” tasting of Mahura and Whisky. At its heart lies an inner sanctum, where a central statue embellished with golden barrel staves fans outward like the plumage of a bird - a direct tribute to the distillery’s flagship brand that honours an Indian Cockerel. Beneath this golden cockerel, guests participate in a fresh interpretation of a traditional cask-draw. They are invited to select “their type of crazy” by choosing one of eight unique artistically rendered whisky thieves to draw cask-strength vintage spirits from glass decanters. It is a theatrical and sensory climax to a contemporary storyline.
