The Shed Distillery
Following our successful product design for Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin, we were commissioned for the holistic design of The Shed Distillery. Our scope spanned strategic positioning and vernacular architectural design , alongside structuralising the immersive tour flow and narrative across curated spaces. Lastly, we provided the foundational interior design basis, enabling the client to beautifully curate their eclectic, material-rich tour.
Architectural Design
Honoring local vernacular, The Shed Distillery avoids a single mass, combining traditional Irish forms with a sunlit central greenhouse that serves as a spectacular bar to conclude the visitor tour.
Interior Design Direction
We structured the immersive tour flow across curated spaces, providing the foundational interior design that empowered the client to beautifully bring their own eclectic, material-rich journey to life.
Consumer Experience
We structured the visitor journey, orchestrating the narrative from the virtual train station arrival through every interactive stage, culminating in immersive, sensory whiskey and gin tasting experiences.
Planning, architectural & interior design
Working closely with our client, we strategically positioned the architectural concept for The Shed Distillery in Drumshanbo to seamlessly align with sustainable local design guidance. Our approach heavily honours the regional vernacular by drawing directly from traditional Irish building shapes and authentic materials. To emulate how historic rural structures naturally extended over time, the design rejects an imposing, singular building mass. Instead, it combines multiple distinct volumes, integrating traditional double-pitched forms with a central greenhouse the very purposely floods light into all parts of the building whilst also serving as a spectacular bar in which to finish your tour.
Interpretation graphics
To maximise consumer education, the tour's interpretive design incorporates high-impact visual aids. A wealth of detailed panels integrated throughout the spaces seamlessly support the tour guides, drawing visitors deep into the distillery processes.
